Abigail Adams

Name: Maisie K.
Organization: GREENE HILL SCHOOL
Grade: 6–8
Medium: Drawing

For my piece of the tapestry I chose to do a portrait of Abigail Adams with her most famous quote, “remember the ladies” inscribed along her face. My reason for choosing Abigail for a subject is because I feel that she was one of the first people when America was founded to speak up for women’s rights, a continuously relevant topic even today. Additionally, this relates to my motive for using the American flag as a place holder for her face. I made that choice because I think that fully adding women to “we the people” is still something that our nation needs to work on, even after its two hundred and fiftieth anniversary.
