“We the people” is a powerful phrase that is constantly referenced in current and past politics. As the first three words of our constitution, they are used as a mantra for our country and the people within it. In my opinion, it is vital that this encompassing term extend to all people of the United States. It’s not, “we the male people” or “we the white people”, but rather a term that should include all citizens that call America their home. However, not all see it that way. Many groups are still excluded from “we the people”, not getting the rights that they deserve. Over the years, “we the people” has become more inclusive, but even today not all have the freedoms that they should. For example, the children of immigrants who should have access to these rights must live in fear of deportation and separation from their families. I believe that no matter ethnicity, religion, gender, sexuality, or party, all are people. All are of the United States, and all are worth the same.
