To me, “We the People” means that inequality is not an option and that everyone deserves to be treated fairly. The person I chose is Malcolm X because he was open-minded, courageous, and determined to make his dream of equality a reality. I chose him because, even though he experienced discrimination as a Black man, he persevered and worked to create a better future for people facing injustice. Some people may not understand why discrimination is such a serious issue, but that is often because they have never experienced those struggles themselves. Malcolm X makes me feel like I belong in America because he showed that people can overcome barriers and challenge like unfair treatment. His determination and fight for equality demonstrate the true meaning of “We the People” and that is why he is an important part of my artwork.
This piece captures the raw courage of a man who refused to compromise on the dignity of Black people. Hanging it in your space isn’t just about decoration; it’s a statement that you value the hard truths, sharp intellect, and relentless fight for real freedom that Malcolm X stood for.
